The Iyula area has been growing coffee since 1938 and has been a cooperative since 1952. It is currently made up of 277 small lot farmers who grow in and around the villages of Iyula and Hatete. This lot of coffee is composed of two varieties developed from Bourbon stock (specifically for Tanzania) and receives a thorough wash before being sun-dried on raised beds. Grown at 1700 MASL in the Southwest area of Tanzania this coffee exhibits some lovely rich sweetness and vibrant acidity. We find that Iyula has a heavy, sweet body, with tasting notes of Raspberry, Maple Syrup and Pecan.
