The Farm

Exciting things are happening with our partners at Kinini Village Cooperative in Rwanda. Since their first harvest in 2017, the farmers of Kinini have been improving their knowledge of their crops. They’ve increased the number of samples taken throughout the season to have a more precise idea of how the cherries are developing, and they inspect each daily picking individually before blending them together, all in the pursuit of bettering the next harvest.

The culmination of these advancements can be tasted in this new roast. These beans are a Bourbon varietal grown between 1800 and 2200 MASL, washed and fermented for a range of 24-36 hours, and spread out to dry on beds shaded by nets and rain tarps. When brewed as a pour-over, you’ll experience a bright, syrupy body with a robust malic acidity tasting of cola, cherry, and limeade. These beans really kick up a notch when used for espresso; fruity sweetness and sharp lime acidity outshine the smooth, rounded cola. When paired with milk, the lay-person may experience more acidity than they’re comfortable with but the adventurous drinker will be met with a cappuccino reminiscent of delicious key-lime pie. However you choose to enjoy it, we believe this new coffee will be a sweet treat for the oncoming season!
