This Kenya Karatina is a beautiful peaberry that come from the Nyeri county. Made up of 1,450 small lot farmers the Karatina factory is one of four factories in the Barichu Cooperative. The 5,800 member cooperative focuses on educating farmers about husbandry and agriculture practices to improve their coffee, with a demonstration lot and nursery, which supplies matured seedlings. Barichu also provides credits for education and emergencies to its members. After harvest, this coffee is washed with water from the Ragati river and sun-dried on raised beds, lending to tasting notes of Raspberries, Honey and Chamomile, with a sparkling acidity and medium, balanced mouthfeel.
