Octavio “Otto'' Herrera is a producer Loyal has been partnering with for all seven years of our existence. We also stock our shelves with Otto’s honey! The coffee blossom honey was made from the hardworking bees that produced honey from the blossoms on the Herrera family’s coffee trees. The Herrera family has been in the coffee game for over 50 years; three generations have worked on their farm in Guatemala. Together, they’ve gifted Loyal with exceptional crops year after year, this year being no different.
These beans are of the Bourbon and Caturra variety. Caturra is a natural mutation of Bourbon known for being a smaller plant that produces larger yields, not only naturally but also because the smaller size allows larger quantities to be planted in the allotted space. The beans are a washed process, creating a complex acidity that will entertain the coffee enthusiast and a comforting body that will please the casual drinker. In short, these beans create a cup for the masses, something that will please everyone. It is an excellent choice for batch brew, though the flavors really shine when brewed on pour over.
